Bret Michaels Illness, Poison Singer Is Sick And Hospitalized
Bret’s Poison bandmates came out on stage earlier tonight (Thursday, June 30) and informed the audience at Nissan Stadium that he had to be taken to the hospital “due to an allergic reaction to a medication.”
Metal Sludge broke the news an hour before the official announcement that Michaels got a positive test result for COVID-19, which resulted in POISON being forced to withdraw from the competition.
The rock star, who is 59 years old, is currently being treated at a hospital in the area after apparently suffering an adverse reaction to medication that was brought on by his diabetes.
What Happened To Bret Michaels?
It was stated that Bret Michaels was taken to the hospital in Nashville on Thursday evening, just a few minutes before the performance that he was scheduled to do with his band, Poison.
According to the publication, his bandmates stepped on stage before the show to inform the audience about the issue, adding that they couldn’t continue without him. This caused the show to be cut short.
It is not known at this point whether or not either Michaels or his band will be performing at the concerts that are slated to take place this weekend in Florida and Mississippi.
Poison also made the announcement that they would be canceling the VIP meet-and-greet with members of the band that was scheduled to take place in Nashville because of COVID-positive instances within the POISON touring party. It wasn’t long after that when it was announced that POISON will no longer be performing at the performance in any capacity.

Michaels, who is now the father of two little girls, was given a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes when he was just six years old. Despite having diabetes, he has managed to live a very active and full life. However, in recent years, he has had to contend with a number of new health difficulties.
He sustained an injury while performing at the Tony Awards in the year 2009. The year after that, he suffered a hemorrhage in the brain and also had to have an appendectomy performed as an emergency procedure. In 2014, Michaels underwent a procedure to remove one of his kidneys.

In January of 2020, Bret had two separate surgeries: the first one was to repair a torn rotator cuff, and the second one was to remove a spot of skin cancer from his body.
The artist, who is now 59 years old, is continuing his efforts to generate money and awareness for a variety of charitable organizations, including those associated with the fight against diabetes, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and PetSmart charities.
