Brandon Cronenberg is a screenwriter and director from Canada. Cronenberg was born in Toronto, the son of filmmakers David and Carolyn Zeifman and the brother of photographer Caitlin Cronenberg. Cronenberg also has a half sister from his father’s first marriage, Cassandra.
Cronenberg attended Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, where he studied film. Growing up, Cronenberg considered himself to be a “book nerd” who aspired to be a writer, painter, or musician. Cronenberg realized that film contained all of those elements and enrolled in film school.
Cronenberg’s short film Please Speak Continuously and Describe Your Experiences as They Come to You, starring Deragh Campbell, premiered in the International Critics’ Week section of the Cannes Film Festival in 2019. The film won the Canal+ Grand Prize at the L’Étrange Festival in Paris and was named to TIFF’s annual year-end Canada’s Top Ten list for short films in December 2019.
