In 2011 together with rapper and fashion enthusiast Mpumelelo “Fresh da Real” Sojane, they formed a rap duo Tu Black, and they released their first single on 1st March 2017.
Masondo is a member of an experimental band called Coloured Black. “It’s a new genre: beatboxing, rap, singing, poetry, and no accompaniment. We write collectively.” He is finding the Tshisa experience “very, very cool.” He’s formed a bond with Innocent Masuku who plays Baksteen, his best friend and foil in the series.

“A lot of things have been happening in the past season, and I was not really happy. My character was featured in almost every part of the storyline and I didn’t complain about that. When we had to talk about renewing contracts at the end of the season in March, I asked my agent to negotiate a higher salary, they (the producers) refused,” Bongani said.
