Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey is a multi-talented French and Spanish actress, best known for her role as the mermaid Syrena in the popular movie titled Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. She also played the role of Sofi in the science fiction film titled I Origins. The stunning actress entered this filmworld on May 26, 1986. She was born Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey in Barcelona, Spain. Her father is Spanish while her mother is Franco-American. Astrid has two younger sisters who she was raised with. Growing up, the actress spent a few years in Barcelona, and after her parents separated, she moved to France with her father when she was 5 years old. She then completed her basic education in a small town called La Rochelle.
During her high school years, Astrid was so talented to actively participate in theater and plays organized by her school. Although she hadn’t considered a career in acting, Astrid later discovered that she was the best actress in that field. After completing her education, she then attended acting school before her career began. Surprisingly, Astrid is considered a polyglot for her ability to speak multiple languages. She is fluent in French, Spanish, Catalan and English.
Acting career
After completing her studies at the theater school, Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey made her first film appearance in 2007, when she appeared in a few episodes of a French television series called Sur le fil as well as Divine Emilie. The following year, the actress made her appearance on the big screen by interpreting the role of Suzanne in the film called La digue. In the same year, Astrid also featured in a drama titled Equus and a miniseries Elles et moi. She also made appearances in films such as Extase, La Reine Morte, and La Premiere Etoile in 2009; as good asBruce. El Desafio in 2010.
In search of a more difficult environment, Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey joined the American film industry; thus landing his first gig in the 2011 fantasy film titled Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. She portrayed the role of mermaid Syrena alongside Johnny Depp and Kevin McNally. The film became a box office hit; thus catapulting Astrid Bergès-Frisbey to the spotlight. She also appeared in La Fille Du Puisatier in the same year.
Her next project was Sex of Angels where she portrayed the role of Carla in 2012. After that, Astrid played the lead role of Juliette Karsenty in the 2013 film titled Juliette The charming actress joined the cast of the science-drama film fiction titled I Origins where she played the role of Sofi in the film in 2014. She got her big break in 2015 when she starred in a Franco-Italian romance film called Alaska.
