Andrei Skoch and Lev Kvetnoi joined the metallurgical business of the billionaire Alisher Usmanov where he was assigned to Lebedinsky Mining while Kvetnoi was assigned to Oskol Metal Works. The two firms were later merged with a third firm which formed the Metalloinvest Conglomerate. Kvetnoi later decided to sell out but Skoch remained Usmanov’s partner.
