American Idol Star Haven Madison Is The Daughter Of Building429 Singer Jason Roy

Haven Madison father Jason Roy is a singer most popular for leading Building 429. Building 429 is a Christian Alternative Rock band based in Fayetteville.

Jason is not only the lead singer and frontman but the only founding member still in the band. Since the band has had many turnovers in its nearly 25-year career, the singer has stood as the sole member that has been present in every incarnation. 

During that multi-decade span of time, the singer has not only worked with his band but also various others such as NewSong, Pillar, and Decyfer Down. He has worked with these other bands in various capacities ranging from songwriter, lyricist, and even producer. 

However, his work with Building 429 remains his main focus, and the singer has led the band to much success ranging from Grammy nominations to the Dove Awards. Aside from singing, he also plays the rhythm guitar within the band.

Since he is in a Christian band, it comes as no surprise that faith is a big part of Jason’s life. He has been a devout Christian from a young age, and many of his lyrics have to do with faith, worship, and building a relationship with God.

But the singer has worked for his faith even outside of music. He once served as a worship pastor at Grace Community Church, which is located in Clarksville, Tennessee. 

According to a 2013 interview with AllAccess.com, he called his work as a Worship Pastor his other job. Lastly, the singer is also involved in philanthropy and has an organization called Food for the Hungry, which he runs alongside his wife. 

Jason Roy is 43 years old and he was born on August 9, 1979. Jason was born in Mount Pleasant, Texas, in the United States.

The rockstar had a tumultuous early life due to the fact that his parents divorced when he was only four years old. This would profoundly affect the young boy as he has since stated that he missed his father terribly during his childhood years.

The reason why he missed his father so is because of the fact that his mother took him and moved away after the divorce. She also later remarried, which was another way that his father was then shielded away from the boy during his formative years.

Faith was a big part of his life from a young age and he was even raised in a church as his maternal grandfather was a music leader in one. His mother and her four sisters all sang in the church as a vocal group.

The music, alongside the faith, had a profound effect on the way he saw the world. However, it wasn’t until he started living with his father later in his youth, that faith started meaning a lot more.

According to the aforementioned interview, living with his father made him realize that the way he saw faith was not how everyone did. This realization led to a lot of introspection towards not only himself but God, his relationship to God, and what religion, faith, and belief meant to him, which eventually led to music.

Jason founded Building 429 in 1999 alongside Scotty Beshears and Christian Fuhrer. The band was originally a modern pop-rock trio.

It came into formation in late 1999 when Scotty met Jason in North Carolina for Jason’s previous band, All Too Familiar’s last performance. Scotty too had just been involved with a previous band called Elijah’s Ride.

Building 429 came about when they teamed up with Christian, and the name came from a challenge that Jason’s wife Cortni once told him her youth group did called the 429 Challenge. According to the challenge, if someone in the group talked badly about another, they’d have to say something positive too.

So, in the name of building each other, the band was called Building 429.  The band has since released eight albums beginning from 2004 to their most recent one coming out in 2018. 

However, the lineup of the band has been a revolving door for the entirety of their inception. Both Christian and Scotty left the band eventually, with the former leaving in 2002 and the latter leaving in 2007. 

Christian was replaced by Saul Johnson who was then replaced by Michael Anderson, who is still in the band, and Scotty was replaced by Aaron Branch, who is also still in the band. Aside from these two, the band also currently has Steven Stewart, who plays the keyboards, and has been in the band since 2018.

The band has been critically successful as a Christian band for the entirety of its career. They were nominated for three Dove Awards in 2005 at the 36th GMA Dove Awards and won one of the categories, New Artist of the Year.

They were also nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album in 2014.

Jason married his wife and life partner Cortni back on August 4, 2002. The two have been together since 2001.

Cortni is not only a devoted wife but a loving mother too and spends much of her time gushing over her two kids. The recent success of her daughter has sent her over the moon, and she has posted many pictures and stories on her Instagram about how happy she is over Haven’s success. 

However, this doesn’t stop her from loving her son the same either, and she spends as much of her time celebrating his accomplishments as well. In fact, Cortni is a very family-oriented mother and believes not only in love within a family but in constant adoration and togetherness too.

As for her relationship with her husband, it is clear to see that the two are very close and love each other dearly. She often attends his concerts regardless of the size and posts about him as often as she does their two children. 

The two also seem to have fitness in common as they often go on walks and hikes, and as per one post, have been doing so since they started dating. Fitness clearly means a lot to both of them, and is the secret behind both of their physiques as both Cortni and Jason look very fit and healthy for their age. 

As stated above, Cortni also helps run Jason and her philanthropy organization, Food For The Hungry, which helps feed children who need sustenance. 

Haven Madison brother Avery Madison is Jason and Cortni’s other child. Avery was born on August 7, 2003. 

Avery is Haven’s older sibling as he was born three years before Haven, who in turn was born on March 3, 2006. Like his sister and father, Avery is also musically inclined, and even surpasses his sister in terms of musicianship.

The reason why is that the elder sibling can play both the drums and the guitar and is also a producer, self-producing much of his own music. He releases music under the name, Voidletter, and has recently released a single called Synchronicity Freaks alongside two other songs called Student and Waltzing to Empyrean.

He released these songs on January 20, 2023, from Raving Redhead Studios. The first song and the main single, Synchronicity Freaks is a cover of the same song by the Alternative band, Devin Townsend Project. 

The second is a song he wrote in his dorm room while in college and features a drum solo by a friend of his, Kelsey Burch. And the third song is an ambient track that he made from vocals he had recorded for an as-of-yet unreleased album. 

Aside from this single, Avery has also released an album under the Voidletter name called Dawn, which he released on February 20, 2021. This seven-track album was also released under Raving Redhead Studios.
