The Wealth of Ricardo Joel Gomez

As of early-2020, Ricardo Joel Gomez has a net worth estimated to be over $100,000, earned through success in his various endeavors.

He probably benefits from the success of his daughter too, as Selena Gomez has a net worth estimated to be over $75 million, thanks to a successful career in the entertainment industry.

Life and Relationships

Ricardo met stage actress Amanda Dawn Cornett sometime in the late-1980s, and the two began dating, leading to their marriage. Their daughter Selena was named after singer and actress Selena, who was one of the most celebrated Tejano musicians before her sudden passing. He lived and raised his family with his Hispanic heritage in mind. He also raised them Catholic though didn’t adhere strictly to the beliefs of the church though they attended regularly.

His relationship with Amanda only lasted for five years after Selena’s birth, as they eventually divorced, with their daughter living mainly with her mother. It took some time before he reconnected with his daughter, though he later had a purity ring blessed for her. For some time following her daughter’s rise in the entertainment industry, he became an internet celebrity and had a significant following on Instagram, but later deleted his social media accounts, preferring to have a more private life.

Daughter – Selena Gomez

Selena had a lot of trouble financially growing up, especially after her parents divorced.

Her mother barely had any experience with work, as she was a teenager when she had her child. They frequently ate spaghetti at a dollar store to get by. Her mother worked three jobs, and they moved away from Texas to find better opportunities. With both her parents also working towards completing school, she was raised mainly by her grandparents. However, in her youth many noticed her beauty and this led her to compete in several pageants. She was inspired to pursue acting after she saw her mother in one of her stage productions.

She later auditioned for “Barney & Friends”, which led her to meet and befriend Demi Lovato – the two appeared in the show in 2002 with Selena playing the character Gianna. She stayed with the show for two years before leaving, as it was deemed that she was getting too old for the role. In 2003, she made an appearance in “Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over”, and also had a guest role in “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody”.

Selena Gomez – Rise to Fame

In 2007, Selena was cast as the character Mikayla for the series “Hannah Montana”, appearing in several episodes. She achieved her breakthrough when she successfully auditioned for a role in the Disney show “Wizards of Waverly Place”; she played the lead character Alex Russo, but the role required her to move to Hollywood, with her mother.

The show followed her character who is a part of a family of wizards owning a New York Restaurant. During this time, she began recording music, beginning with the theme song for her show. She also worked with the Jonas Brothers for the song “Burnin’ Up”.

Over the next few years, Selena continued making contributions to Disney in both acting and singing. She worked on the film “Another Cinderella Story” which was direct-to-video, and voiced the character, Helga, in “Horton Hears a Who!”, which was a commercial success.

She signed a record deal with Hollywood Records, and then established her own production company called July Moon Productions, which would later be responsible for creating the Netflix series “Thirteen Reasons Why”. In the late 2000s, she continued working with Disney, appearing as a guest on several shows, while also starring in “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie”.

Selena Gomez – Later Career

In the next few years, Gomez made efforts to release more mainstream music, and move away from her typical Disney roles. She voiced one of the lead characters in “Hotel Transylvania” which was highly successful, leading to a franchise.

She also started releasing what became hit singles, such as “Come & Get It” and “Slow Down” which led to her Stars Dance Tour.

In 2012 she was diagnosed with the disease lupus, and had to take treatment for it over the next few years. Things got worse sometime in 2017 when she suddenly withdrew from public events, and was noticeably absent from social media. It was later revealed that she underwent a kidney transplant, donated by one of her close friends, Francia Raisa. In recent years, she’s been working on “Thirteen Reasons Why”, and continues to release successful hits.

Some of her recent musical projects include “Lose You To Love Me”, “Taki Taki” and “Look at Her Now”. She also does a lot of philanthropic work, and has been a member of the organization UNICEF since 2008. One of her recent charity events was the WE Day California held in Los Angeles in 2019. She also partnered with WE Charity for an event held in Kenya.

Personal Life

Ricardo later married a woman named Sara in 2012 and they have a child together. Since then he has mainly led a quiet life, not getting too involved with Selena to attract media attention. His former wife Amanda married Brian Teefey in 2006, and the couple has two children. All of Selena’s half-siblings are reportedly close to her.
