Alicent Hightower Family Tree

Alicent Hightower was born to Ser Otto Hightower, the younger brother of Lord Hightower. Her father served as Jaehaerys I, Viserys I, and eventually Aegon II’s Hand of the King.

In 101 AC, when King Jaehaerys I Targaryen appointed her father as Hand of the King, thirteen-year-old, Alicent went to court with him, her mother, and brothers. King Jaehaerys eventually adopted her as his regular companion while his health deteriorated.

She read to him, helped him dress and wash, and brought him meals. So she was close to the king that sometimes he even mistook her for his daughter Saera Targaryen, as per Ice and Fire wiki.

Following the king’s death, she remained at the court as her father was still serving as a Hand for King Viserys I Targaryen, who was Jaehaerys’s successor. Viserys I Targaryen, whose first wife, Queen Aemma Arryn, had passed away, and the council pressed him to remarry.

At that time, Alicent caught his attention, and Viserys chose her as his wife. She had a good relationship with her step-daughter, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. But, she later gave birth to Aemond, Daeron, Helaena, and Aegon II in rapid succession.

Thus, the family tree of Alicent provides detail about her father, brother, husband, children, and grandkids.

Her father is Otto, whereas the details about her mother remain unknown. She had several brothers, including Gwayne Hightower. She married King Viserys I Targaryen and gave birth to four children.

Her son, Aegon, married his sister Halaaena and gave birth to three kids. Thus, Alicent had three grandkids named Jaehaerys, Jaehaera, and Maelor.

Details About Hightower And Targaryen Family Relationship

Hightower was a strong supporter of Targaryen. However, the conflict within the family tree caused the split of Targareyn into Green and Black.

The Dance of the Dragons, which will take place after the king’s death, was one of the most important events in the House of the Dragon. Rhaenyra Targaryen and Aegon II Targaryen fight for the Iron throne following the king’s demise.

Even though Rhaenyra’s uncle Daemon believed he should be the heir, she was long regarded as King Viserys I’s heir to the kingdom since she was his oldest child. However, succession to the throne became more difficult after Viserys remarried and bore a son.

There were two factions within Targaryen- Green and Black. It was a fight between the Queen and the Princess.

Aegon II’s mother Alicent, his paternal grandfather Otto Hightower, and several other lords plotted to place him on the throne despite Viserys’ insistence that Rhaenyra would be his successor which ignited the start of the historic Targaryen Civil War in the House of the Dragon.
