Alex Pereira Weight Loss Journey

Alex Pereira, who was scheduled to fight Israel Adesanya in a world title fight at UFC 281, gained weight five minutes before the deadline after a grueling cut from 232lb.

The champion, Adesanya, arrived on the scales at 185lb early in today’s official weigh-in.

Still, as recently as August, Pereira struggled to reach 184.6lb after ballooning to well into the heavyweight territory.

He shared a photo to social media showing himself on the scales at 105.6kg, just under 233lb, which is more than three stone over the middleweight limit.

New York Commission officials would have allowed him a further two hours to make the weight, but fortunately, he could get in under the limit to confirm his bout with Adesanya.

Pereira’s weight cut is considered one of the most brutal in UFC history.

Before And After Photos Of Alex

Crowned UFC Middleweight champion, Alex Pereira had made headlines due to his massive weight cut before the fight against Israel Adesanya at UFC 281.

Pereira had to cut over 25 pounds to make the 185-pound weight limit for the middleweight division.

A photo shared on Pereira’s social media showed him weighing 95.6 kg (211.4 pounds) on the day of the fight.

In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Rogan called the ability to cut massive amounts of weight ‘sanctioned cheating.’

He believes it puts fighters at an unfair advantage and leads to exhaustion during the fight.

Despite this, Rogan is excellent with the controversial standing stoppage in the fifth round, which gave Pereira the victory.

Dana White has suggested that Adesanya may get an immediate rematch against Pereira.

Still, Adesanya has stated that he needs to take some time off to recover and fix some health issues.

As for Pereira, he may have to face someone else at 185 pounds next.
