Adrienne Bailon Ethnic Background
Adrienne Bailon finds her Latino ethnic background as a form of strength. Born as mix cultured Latina, Adrienne is the first Latina woman to host a daytime talk show in the US.
The Latina is half Puerto Rican from her maternal side and half Ecuadorian from her father’s side. Interested in learning her ancestry and family background, Bailon searched ancestry.com and surprised her family with their history.
She put up a youtube video on her channel, All Things Adrienne, where Bailon and her sister Claudette shared information about their parent’s ancestry, and their mom and dad were also on the video.
From the results provided by the site, Bailon found out about her grandfather and great-great grand mother on her mother’s side. Her mother, Nilda Alicia, comes from the lines of Rodriguez in Aibonito, a small mountain town in Puerto Rico.
Bailon also mentions how her mother thinks she is related to Ponce De Leon, the former governor of Puerto Rico, while her father claims the TV show host has Spanish jew roots as well.
Her grandfather, Ulpiano Alicea Rivera, was listed in the marine muster rolls in 1953. He had moved from Puerto Rico as an immigrant and lived in El Barrio, the Spanish Harlem neighborhood in New York City.
Born on April 1916 to Evaristo and Juana, Ulpiano had Bailon’s mother, Nilda, with her grandmother, Carmen Maria Zayas Y Garcia. Her grandmother immigrated to the US to provide for her family, leaving her three children in Puerto Rico.
It was found that Bailon’s grandfather was already married and had six children and had a wife living back in Aibonito as said by her mother Nilda on the video.
