Aaron Fotheringham Net Worth, Income, Salary, Earnings, Biography

Fotheringham (born November 8, 1991 in Las Vegas, Nevada) is an extreme wheelchair athlete who uses techniques borrowed from skating and BMX to execute tricks in his wheelchair. Fotheringham was born with spina bifida and has been confined to a wheelchair since the age of three. Although he began using crutches at a young age, he has been a full-time wheelchair user since the age of eight. He used to sit in his chair and watch his brother ride his BMX in the skate park, and one day his brother suggested that he try riding his chair at the park as well. In his own words, Aaron subsequently said, “I did, and I was hooked.” Fotheringham utilises a Box Wheelchairs WCMX wheelchair that has been modified to his specifications. The wheelchair is lightweight and has four-wheel suspension. Because of the suspension, he is able to execute the same kind of stunts as skateboarders and BMXers, and his landings are cushioned by the suspension.

With the assistance of Box Designs Wheelchairs, Fotheringham has helped improve the design in real-world circumstances, resulting in a custom-made chair that is, in his words, “pretty much indestructible.” He participates in skate park events as part of the Vegas Am Jam series, where he typically faces off against BMX riders. On August 26, 2006, he competed in a BMX competition hosted at Sunny Springs Skate Park, where he finished fourth in the intermediate category. Fotheringham recommends that anybody trying these feats do so while wearing a helmet; he has sustained numerous injuries when doing these tricks, including a fractured elbow, as a result of them. It is in a foam pit that he tests out new feats before attempting them in real life.

A ‘resi’ is then added on top of the cushions to provide a tougher surface for him to practise the new trick before trying it on a normal skateboard ramp. When questioned about the need of practising, Fotheringham said, “I don’t see of it as practise; I think of it as a joyful way to live my life.” Aaron has also done his backflip over a 50-foot megaramp on the Nitro Circus Live Tour, as well as jumping the ramp in the straight direction. Gregory Haerr, the creator of Century Software, made a gift of US$20,000 to him when he featured on an episode of the reality television series “The Secret Millionaire” in 2008. The actor performed as a stunt double for Kevin McHale’s character, Artie Abrams, in the hit television show Glee in 2009.
