Former ‘Bachelor’ Aaron Buerge Now Starring in Bankruptcy Court

Aaron Buerge’s finances aren’t faring much better than his televised search for love did.

Buerge, whose turn on “The Bachelor” in 2002 ended with a broken engagement, sought bankruptcy protection Friday in Kansas City. The Springfield, Mo., resident reported liabilities of $9.3 million and assets of $2.3 million, according to court papers.

Buerge starred in the second season of the ABC series dedicated to helping single men find their mates. But Buerge’s stint, like so many others’, was ill-fated; his engagement to elementary school psychologist Helene Eksterowicz survived mere weeks after the show’s finale, with the real final bow occurring during dumping at a New Jersey Starbucks, according to the Associated Press.

Still, love eventually found Buerge. In 2009, People magazine and Access Hollywood reported that Buerge was no longer on the market, planning to wed fiancée Angye McIntosh in August of that year. His petition lists an “Angie Buerge” as a co-debtor, with the same address as Aaron.
