Disgraced South Carolina Attorney Alex Murdaugh Could Face Life In Prison

Alex Murdaugh had always garnered an extra eye for the series of accidents and deaths caused in the family.

If he is to be convicted of the double murder, the disgraced attorney will face a life in prison sentence. However, the murders are not the only charges that he is facing.

The prosecutors have accused him of diverting $10m in legal settlements from personal injury cases to a bank account he controlled. The incident traces back to the September 4 attack, where he was superficially on the head.

In addition to the above charges, Alex also faces 79 fraud-related charges. Another charge includes alleged scams, including a $3.5m insurance payout due to the family of his late housekeeper, Gloria Satterfield.

Gloria’s death is reported as a “trip and fall,” but the family had not notified the concerned authority nor performed an autopsy.

The Guardian writes that the authorities have also opened an investigation into the unsolved death of Stephen Smith.

Smith died of blunt-force head trauma on a nearby county road in July 2015 that was initially investigated as a homicide, then labeled a hit-and-run.

His case came up during Maggie and Pual’s death investigations. With so many open cases, Alex is currently drowned in legal troubles and punishments in the future.

Timeline of Alex Murdaugh Criminal Cases

Alex Murdaugh has taken down his family’s glorious law history as his crimes unfolded over time and again.

CNN writes that the Murdaugh family had kept their family prestige and business in law, making their county known as the Murdaugh County.

It all started in 2018 with the family’s housekeeper Gloria’s ‘intriguing death.’ The following year, Alex’s boat crashed, and a 19-year-old Mallory Beach had boarded the water vehicle with Alex’s son Paul.

Though Alex was indicted for the boat case, he got out of trouble much sooner than anticipated. The year 2021 marks the most hectic year for the Murdaugh family as Magaret and her son Paul are shot dead.

Since then, the family’s peace and reputation have not become sane as the news update become trending news around the world.

Moreover, the case has become some of the highly covered criminal cases that have been adapted into TV shows, including ABC’s 20/20 since last year.
