10 Best Superhero Movie Trailers [Ranked]

Superhero movies are always fun to watch, but trailers are responsible for attracting fans.

Releasing a brilliant trailer is also part of the elaborated multi-million dollar marketing plans. With so much relying on the trailer, Superhero movie trailers are mini-movies in themselves. Some films also release multiple trailers to attract viewers to the theaters.

Movies like Thor: Love & Thunder and Black Adam released multiple trailers this year. However, not all the trailers of the same movie are equal, as fans always have a pick for themselves.

Here is the list of the top 10 best superhero movie trailers ranked in 2022.

10. Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3 second trailer starts at number 10 in the list of top 10 superhero movie trailers of all time.

The trailer has done its job of catching people’s attention as it shows Marvel’s first superhero Iron Man taking a massive blow. First, the trailer shows Tony’s high-tech house falling to the ground, then he is seen held captive.

Furthermore, the trailer also reveals Iron Man all exhausted after fighting off the enemies and one last epic battle involving several of Tony’s Iron Man Suits.

The epic saga leaves viewers wondering if their favorite superhero would be able to save the day or more importantly himself.

Iron Man 3 trailer 2 looks action-packed and promising, but others in this list are even better.

9. Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Avengers: Age Of Ultron teaser trailer has gained the 9th position in this list of top 10 superhero movie trailers.

The second movie in the MCU’s Avengers series, the Age of Ultron trailer, promised fans a bit of everything. The trailer shows glimpses of every Marvel character and has some oversharing in the teaser. The trailer also shows some dark scenes putting chills into the audience’s bones.

Like other Marvel trailers, Avengers: Age of Ultron’s trailer is also packed with action. The trailer reveals some worrying scenes, including Thor letting go of his Hammer, Captain America’s shield breaking in half, Tony Stark looking straight into a Robot’s head, and a glimpse of an epic duel between Hulk and Hulkbuster.

Although most MCU fans love the trailer, Screenrant blames the trailer for oversharing into the boundary of false marketing. Nonetheless, Avengers: Age of Ultron’s trailer has ranked number 9 in this list of top 10 superhero movie trailers.

8. Logan

Logan trailer 2 is another excellent example of a superhero movie trailer.

The 2017 movie trailer almost seems misleading, but in a good way. While the film is titled Logan, fans expect it to be about the Wolverine, but the creators do not seem to have thought alike.

The trailer emphasizes Laura, Logan’s young prodigy, more. A perfect blend of old age and youthfulness makes the trailer loveable. On the one hand, Logan is no longer the fierce Wolverine we all knew. On the other hand, Laura has picked up similar traits.

The first few seconds into the trailer, we witness Laura attacking a storekeeper over Pringles, soda, and sunglass. However, Logan is there to control her and teach her. Similarly, later in the trailer, we see Laura single-handedly fighting with an army of heavily armored personnel. A bit of overshare, but it’s what makes the trailer beautiful.

7. Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad trailer 1 is the first entry from DC movies at number 7 on the list.

Trailer 1 of Suicide Squad sets a perfect example that a trailer can be beautiful despite the movie not being so good. The trailer has Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody playing in the background for the whole time, giving an aesthetic feel to the trailer.

The comment section of the trailer on YouTube is filled with praises for using Bohemian Rhapsody; the fans have also bluntly admitted to the trailer being better than the actual movie in the YouTube comment section.

In addition to the audio, the screen time of the characters is also well-calculated in the trailer. Some trailers are notoriously known for portraying some characters as the main character despite having very little screen time in the film, but that does not seem to be the case in Suicide Squad trailer 1.

6. X-Men Origins: Wolverine

X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer 1 made it into the list at number 6.

The film was one of the most heavily marketed superhero movies of its time, so the trailer’s adoration by fans is not new. However, the marketing budget was accompanied by the quality of the trailer and clips to make it successful. Destruction is on another level in the trailer, with plenty of firey scenes and a heavy armory.

The trailer has some scenes exciting the audience and urging them to visit the theaters. For instance, the trailer shows Wolverine jumping into a helicopter and riding a motorbike. Not just that, Wolverine is also shown submerged in the form of blue liquid inside of a lab and struggling. He jumps out of the juice with his claws extended right into a fight.

However, the action alone does not make the trailer loveable. The trailer has strategically and magnificently placed dialogues touching the depth of the plot and the audience’s hearts.

5. Watchmen

In number 5 we have Watchmen trailer 1, not the television series but the film trailer.

The trailer is brilliant, and so is the movie itself but not on par with the television series of the same name and storyline. The trickery behind making such a magnificent trailer is the use of minimal dialogue and more action sequences.

It relies on well-crafted and neatly made action sequences rather than lengthy dialogue lines to achieve its purpose of exciting the audience without giving out any details on the plot of the movie. I would be lying if I said there are no dialogues, there is one line of dialogue in the entire trailer.

The low light and action coupled with the only line of dialogue in the entire trailer make it chilling to the bone, it also hints to audiences as to what to expect from the movie making it one of the fan-favorite trailers of all time.

4. Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice Comic-Con trailer is ranked at number 4 in the list of 10 best superhero movie trailers.

The trailer starts with people protesting against superman, claiming the earth belongs to humans, not aliens. However, the trailer specifically tailored for Comic-Con leaves the viewers with more questions than answers leading them to theaters for the answers.

Furthermore, the trailer also shows Wayne Manor in terrible shape. The trailer also features long unseen Wonder Woman but does not answer what she is there for, keeping the curiosity level at the top. Redditors love the action-packed trailer.

3. Spider-Man 2

Spider-Man 2, a 2004 movie, has a claim for number 3 in the top 10 superhero movie trailers in 2022.

The trailer excites fans to visit the theater without giving away anything about the plot, writes one Reddit user. The trailer starts with Peter and MJ talking about love at a cafe, but soon things get ugly when a car comes headed for them, smashing the window. Soon, Doctor Octopus is revealed as the antagonist of the film.

Spider-Man 2 trailer also shows plenty of swinging scenes guaranteeing the viewer’s excitement. It also gives a glimpse of all the major characters in the film as well.

2. Man Of Steel

Man Of Steel trailer 3 is second on the list of best superhero movie trailers.

In fact, Man of Steel trailer three is better than the movie itself, as claimed by some viewers. The trailer covers almost everything in the film, from Kal-El’s life as a baby boy on Krypton to his boyhood on earth and his adulthood as a perceived hostile alien.

The trailer draws a clear skeleton for the movie. However, the film fails to add flesh and blood to the structure and creates a well-crafted masterpiece. Nonetheless, the trailer is popular among fans, with Redditor StudBoi69 claiming the trailer does not fail to give chills every time.

1. The Dark Knight

The number one position in the list goes to DC Extended Universe with the trailer of The Dark Knight.

Much like the film, the trailer is heavily centered around the antagonist, The Joker. However, it does show the protagonist Batman. The superhero is seen riding his Batcycle in the very first scene of the trailer.

The trailer offers multiple things, from the gun and explosion madness to actual motivating scenes. Joker’s most famous line, ‘why so serious,’ has also made it into the trailer. The short-cut action scenes create more questions than answers raising anticipation and curiosity among fans.
